IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis R.
Litz
June 24, 1948 – March 31, 2024
Dennis R. Litz, 75, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Carlisle, died on Sunday, March 31, 2024, as a result of a car accident in Carlisle. He was born on June 24, 1948, in Altoona and was a son of the late Lloyd Litz and Wanda (Clark) Litz Sommer. He was twice married. His first marriage was to Barbara (Bathurst) Rhodes, mother of his daughter. In 1978 he married Sandra (Kratzer) Litz who predeceased him in 2006.
He is survived by one daughter, Regina "Gina" J. (husband David) Daniel of Camp Hill, three brothers, Donald (Vicky) Litz of Bellwood, Timothy (Danene) Litz of Altoona, and Michael (Betty) Litz of Altoona, two sisters, Susan Grassmyer and Lisa (Don) Raab, both of Tipton, PA. Denny is also survived by two granddaughters, Alexis and Caitlin Daniel and many nieces and nephews. Denny was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Litz and one sister, Della Snyder.
Denny graduated from Bellwood Antis High School in 1966. He played the organ in a band called the Monterays and continued to play the organ on occasion for a few decades. He retired from P.P.G. Industries after 40 years of service. He had a strong work ethic and rarely missed a day of work. He was proud of the work he did and made many great friends there. He was also a member of the Carlisle Elks for the past 36 years.
Denny would hunt and fish as early hobbies and he loved spending time by the LeTort Creek feeding the ducks, especially with his granddaughters. He was a single father in a time when that was rare. He liked to go camping with the family and enjoyed vacationing at the beach. His favorite was Dewey Beach, DE, where he would crab and dig clams for dinner each evening. He and Sandy loved to travel to Las Vegas and had a standing vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC for 2 weeks each September.
While he was generally a man of few words, he was a kind and generous man who would doanything to help someone out by mowing their lawn to fixing pretty much anything. His work was well thought out and precise.
Private services will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home with the burial to follow in Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle. Memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to https://kickinforkids.net/donate/.
