Listen to Obituary

Delmar Dwight (Ike) Russell, 71, of Newville, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 2, 1955, in Carlisle and was a son of the late William C. Russell and Geraldine (Kling) Russell.

Delmar graduated in 1973 from Big Spring High School, Newville. Delmar began his work career with Raymond Deihl as a mason. He retired from AMP/Tyco Inc. as a dye mechanic after 38 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting deer and long beard turkey, fishing, and going to local block shoots. Delmar also loved to do woodwork. He purchased a 1964 cj6 Jeep, tore it apart, put it back together, and fixed it up with fresh paint and his own twists like a gun for the gear shift and a seat from an old school bus. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Rod and Gun Club in Potter County and a family cabin where he spent a lot of time. He and his wife enjoyed many hunting trips to Maine and the Western United States. He also enjoyed going with his wife to public sales, but his biggest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Cindy L. (Morrison) Russell, one daughter Carie M. Russell of Carlisle, one son Curtis G. Russell of Carlisle, one grandson Garrett L. Russell, two granddaughters, Taylor M. Russell and Leah E. Russell. Three brothers, Bill Russell, Bob Russell (Karen) and Ronald Russell (Kathy) all of Carlisle, four sisters, Pat Boyne of Mount Holly Springs, Mary Stets of Carlisle, Darlene Weidner (Wayne) of Gardners and Luann Russell of Mechanicsburg and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Don Snyder officiating. The burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scouts Troop 185 (P.O.
