David Lee Carey, 65, of Newville, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at his home. He was born on April 12, 1950 in Carlisle, the son of the late David W. Carey and Alice V. (Morgan) Carey Rhoads.

Dave was a 1969 graduate of Big Spring High School and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He had worked for the former Appleton Paper Co. for 28 years and later on had worked for several contractors at the US Army War College. Dave was a member of the NRA.

He is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 42 years, Deborah L. (Lopp) Carey, one son, Clint David Carey and one daughter, Tandy CeLeste Carey, both of Newville, one sister, Lana Negley of Newville, one grandson, Lucas David Carey and one granddaughter, Nevaeh Debralou Carey, one step-sister, Mary Lee Lappano of Myrtle Beach, SC and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with John Lopp officiating. Interment will be in Centerville Memorial Park, Newville.
