Daniel R. Kesack, 76, of Carlisle, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. He was born on Tuesday, October 10, 1933, in Allentown, and was a son of the late Metro and Anna (Blahut) Kesack.
Dan was a 1951 graduate of Allentown High School, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Dan retired after nearly 25 years of service with the former Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot, where he was a programmer. He was of Catholic faith, and was a member of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109 and the Carlisle Eagles Aerie 1299. Dan was an avid golfer and he enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 35 years, Carmen E. (Abbott) Kesack, two sons, Alan D. Kesack and Robert D. Kesack both of Cranston, RI, a daughter, Cheryl A. Steere of Johnston, RI, a brother, William (and his wife, Margaret) Kesack of Bethlehem, PA, three sisters; Jo Trusheim of Warren, NJ, Marie (and her husband, Robert) Kaplan and Ellie (and her husband, Martin) Misenheimer both of Allentown, five grandchildren; Daniel, Patrick, Robert, Jennifer and Lauren Kesack and many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by a son, Daniel V. Kesack and a sister, Geraldine "Geri" Kotran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 87 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. Olusola H. Adewole, OP officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Lung Assoc. of PA, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
