Craig E. Yinger, Sr., 70, of Mechanicsburg, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born on June 25, 1955, in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Frank Yinger and Colleen (Oppelt) Yinger.
Craig was a proud member of the Mechanicsburg High School class of 1974. He began his career with the Borough of Mechanicsburg at the age of 19, dedicating 46 years of service before retiring as the highway superintendent. He was also a devoted member and former Fire Chief of the Washington (Washies) Fire Company #1 in Mechanicsburg, and a 23-year member of the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association.
A devoted husband, adoring father, and loving pappy, Craig cherished his family deeply. He had a passion for hunting, especially at his beloved cabin in Stony Fork, part of the Rail Island Hunting Club, where he found peace and joy in nature.
Craig is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda L. (Bishop) Yinger; one daughter, Julie Schaffer; two sons, Craig (Jordyne) Yinger, Jr. and Steven (Amra) Yinger; one stepson, Jon (Ashlee) Zimmerman; and one brother, Mark Yinger. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Alexa (Thomas) Garman, Derek Zimmerman, Rylan Navratil, Sofia Navratil, Alayna Yinger, Kyden Navratil, Layla Salihovic, and Nadin Yinger, along with three great-grandchildren: Chloé Garman, Finnley Garman, and Hudson Garman.
