Chris A. Smith, 56, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Mercy House of Chambersburg. He was born on November 12, 1967, in Carlisle, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul E. Smith and Mary M. (Rowles) Smith. Chris was the widower of Susan C. (Banks) Smith. Also preceded in death by his brother Curtis E. Smith, and son Joshua D. Smith.
He is survived by his children, Joel A. Smith, and spouse Meagan M. Trayer, Curvey E. Sampson, daughter-in-law Jacqueline J. (Packer) Smith, stepdaughter Kaitlin N. Deimler, and stepson Dillon M. Deimler. Chris is also survived by his longtime girlfriend April Day and his siblings, Deborah Rouner and late spouse, David Rouner, Lorraine Davis and spouse, Donald Davis Jr., Kathy Smith (Curtis' wife), Tina Sheaffer and spouse, Willian Sheaffer, Jeffrey Smith, Teresa Laughman and spouse, Harry Laughman. Chris has 8 grandchildren, 30 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Chris was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an avid hunter and loved being outside working with his hands. Chris developed a passion for woodworking from his brother, Curt. He really enjoyed refurbishing furniture and became a connoisseur of collectable items. In addition to his passion for woodworking, Chris also had a deep passion for old muscle cars. His dream car was a 1965 Chevelle SS. He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Penn State Nittany Lions.
In his last days, Chris received phenomenal care by his nurses, care givers, and volunteers at Mercy House of Chambersburg and by Residential Hospice. During his time there, they embraced all with open arms and allowed his family and friends to spend time by his bedside, making his final days as peaceful as possible. Chris was loved by many and will be truly missed.
A visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, follow by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013 with Brother Mark Fetterman as the officiant.
The burial will be on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery, 2 Watts St, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Mark Fetterman as the officiant.
