Obituary

Charles M. "Pete" Lindsey, 96, formerly of Carlisle, died on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Harmony at West Shore, Mechanicsburg.  He was born on June 13, 1927, in Mt. Holly Springs and was the son of the late Mary (Gossard) Lindsey.  He was married 67 years to the late Elinor Y. "Skip" (Yeingst) Lindsey who died October 30, 2019.

Pete was a Navy veteran of WWII.  He worked and retired after nearly 39 years with Kimberly Clark Paper Mill (formerly Peter J. Schweitzer) in Mt. Holly Springs.  Pete was a 50-year member of the former Grace United Methodist Church of Carlisle.  He played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals in Salisbury, MD, and for many years with the Mt. Holly Springs Sandlot baseball team.

He is survived by one daughter Patricia "Patti" (husband Doug) Enck of Mechanicsburg, one daughter-in-law, Vonnie Lindsey of Florida, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons.  Pete was preceded in death by one son Richard "Rick" Lindsey who passed away in 2013.

A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Mira Hewlett officiating.  A burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice for All Seasons, 280 S. Hill Dr, Grantville, PA 17028.
