Catherine L. Bentz, 86, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Friday, June 6, 1924, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna (Campbell) Ritter.

Catherine was a 1942 graduate of Carlisle High School and retired from AMP, Inc., Carlisle after 20 years of service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Carlisle and she enjoyed fishing.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Robert L. Bentz, two sons; Ronald R. Bentz of Carlisle and Thomas E. (and his wife, Dorothy) Bentz of Newville, one daughter, Ruth Ann (and her husband, Fraser) Gensler of Bethel Park, PA, four grandchildren; Ronald E. Bentz, Elaine Bentz, Fraser Gensler and Adam Gensler, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Catherine was also preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin,Alfred, Eugene and Ernest Ritter and a granddaughter, Leslie K. Bentz, who died May 19, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. John L. Shellenberger, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp. Viewing be on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 64 E.
