Carolyn LeFevre Lackey, 81, formerly of Carlisle, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Green Ridge Village, Newville. She was born on Feb. 13, 1933, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Robert F. LeFevre and Cecyl (Zimmerman) LeFevre Shimer. She was the widow of Kermit E. Lackey, who died Oct. 15, 1995.
She was a Carlisle High School graduate and attended the former Carlisle Commercial College. Carolyn taught the art of making ceramics for many years. She also owned and operated Carolyn's Doll Fantasy and an antique shop in Carlisle for many years. She was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church. Carolyn enjoyed doing genealogy research and had volunteered at the Cumberland County Historical Society and the US Army Heritage and Education Center.
She is survived by one son, Michael W. (wife, Linda Mylin Ross) Lackey of Marietta, three daughters; Charlotte A. (husband, Donald) Boettger of Carlisle, Judy E. Lackey of Carlisle and Tonia L. (husband, Dan) Stutenroth of Boiling Springs, one brother, Robert A. LeFevre of Red Lodge, MT, eight grandchildren; Nathan Lackey, Amanda Boettger, Ashley Fitzpatrick, Jason Stutenroth, Jennifer Horning, Elizabeth Stutenroth, Erin Mathes and Scott Mathes and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Pastor Jim VanZandt will officiate. Burial will be private. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association Greater PA Chapter, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
