Obituary

Carol J. McLaughlin, affectionately known as Mimi, 76, of Carlisle, passed away with her loving husband by her side on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at their home.  She was born on June 14, 1944 in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Ember B. and Helen G. (Cornman) Rupp and daughter-in-law of the late George O. and Esther K. (Farlling) McLaughlin.

Carol attended school at Carlisle.  She was a faithful daughter, amazing wife, incredible mother, doting grandma, loyal sister, loving aunt and dedicated friend.  She was a homemaker and also enjoyed providing childcare in her home for many years.  She was involved with the PTA, attended, chaperoned and organized functions throughout her daughters' school years.  She cherished kids and was always very welcoming and easy to talk to. Most of her daughters' friends thought of her as a second mom.  She looked forward to going to the beach every year, walking on the boardwalk with her family and also going over the mountain to spend time at the cabin. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking and her ability to find a great bargain while shopping. She was always so excited to decorate for Christmas, especially treasuring the Nativity scene. She loved Christmas carols in addition to singing to children, the songs she knew about Jesus. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, ceramics, dancing, teaching others to dance and she took ballet. She was generous and truly had a servant's heart, taking care of those who were sick and those in need. She was tiny and she was mighty.  She loved and she was loved.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years Robert L. McLaughlin, two daughters, Robin L. (Tim) Barnhart of Gardners and Jenifer A. (Linn Kling) McLaughlin-Morrison of Carlisle, four brothers, Robert, Laverne "Bernie", Dennis (Cathy) and Terry (Tammy) Rupp, four grandchildren, Carrie Barnhart, Aaron (Kera) Barnhart, Sage (Stephanie) Morrison and Carly Perry, one step-great grandson Colton Steiner and many loved nieces and nephews.  Carol was preceded in death by four brothers, Leland, Lloyd, Ronald and Lester Rupp and four sisters, Gayle McLaughlin, Loretta Morrow, Donna and Faye Rupp.

A pass-through viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Shad Baker officiating.  Burial will be held on a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.  Visit www.Since1853.com to send condolences.
