Carmen graduated from San Felipe Academy in Puerto Rico. She retired from the PA Department of Education after many years of service as a secretary. Carmen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She is survived by one son, J. Seann Dorand of Ft. Washington, one brother, Jose Ortiz of San Juan, Puerto Rico, one sister, Belen Ortiz of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, one nephew, Kenneth J. Cote, three nieces; Jean Lennon, Rosie Ortiz and Helen Ortiz and one grandchild. Carmen was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Cote.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. Dwight D. Schlaline officiating. Burial will be private in St. Patrick's New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
