IN LOVING MEMORY OF
C. Elizabeth
Burns
November 14, 1926 – October 12, 2021
Elizabeth (Hooven) Burns, 94 years young, of Carlisle, and formerly of Hanover, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was born at home on November 14, 1926, in Union Township, York County and was a daughter of the late Melvin L. Hooven and Katherine (Swartz) Hooven. Elizabeth was the wife of William H. Burns, whom she married on February 7, 1945, and who passed on July 11, 2009.
Elizabeth was a devoted homemaker; she loved and cared for her family and friends unconditionally. She loved animals, and previously owned and operated Cinderella's Pet Salon. She loved the Lord above all else. As a faithful member of Christ Community Church, she was a joy-filled prayer warrior, worshipper, dancer and praiser. A passionate card writer, she frequently blessed others with her touching and encouranging notes. She stood unapologetically on the Bible, drawing her strength from Psalm 91 (He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust... ). Elizabeth was loved by all who were touched by her loving care, sense of humor and strong faith. Her prayers for her loved ones will be missed. But as we say goodbye to her here on earth, we know she would remind us "Only for now, only for now".
She leaves to celebrate her life: one son, Brian S. (Donna) Burns of Wellsville, two daughters, Robin C. Burns of Mechanicsburg and Stacey K. Burns of Carlisle, one sister, Jean Arendt of Gettysburg, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandaughter, Zoey Elizabeth Diehl. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Harrison Mortorff.
All are welcome to attend Elizabeth's Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm, at Christ Community Church (Youth Building), 1201 Slate Hill Rd, Camp Hill with Pastor Tim Spirk officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Rd, Camp Hill. Memorials can be made to Christ Communitiy Church.
