Obituary

Bruce Michael Shiffler, 67, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle. He was born on April 15, 1950 in Lancaster, PA and was the son of the late Albert Bruce Shiffler and Ida Louise (Smeltz) Shiffler.

Bruce was a 1968 graduate of Hempfield High School in Lancaster and attended Shippensburg University. Bruce worked in the wholesale food industry most of his life and retired as the National Sales Manager for Pilgrim's Pride which became J.B.S. A great lover of people, Bruce enjoyed doing caricatures, telling stories, and cooking for large family get-togethers. In 1986, he won the National Catfish Cooking contest in New Orleans, LA.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Judith (Judy) Lynn (Gregor) Shiffler, three sons; Brooke M. (wife, Christina) Shiffler of Greensboro, NC, Brian J. (fiancé, Evelyn Hernandez) Shiffler of Chambersburg and B. Robert (wife, Nicole) Shiffler of Rochelle, VA, one daughter, Allison M. Shiffler of Orem, UT, one brother, Michael S. Shiffler of Shenksville and one sister, Cindy L. Goodhart of Lititz, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony W. "Tony" Shiffler.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 216 Skyline Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA, with Bishop Matthew Candland officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church. Burial will be in Waggoners United Methodist Church Cemetery, Carlisle.
