Obituary

Bradley Scott DeWalt, 21, of Grove City, OH and formerly of Boiling Springs, flew back into the arms of our Lord early Tuesday morning, August 24, 2010 in Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, OH. A ruptured blood vessel in his head on Saturday did what the rest of us have been trying to do for years, and that's to slow him down.

Bradley was born at 12:51 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 1988 in the former Carlisle Hospital to his young, proud parents, Lisa (Griffith) Brandt and Drew DeWalt. Weighing 9 pounds, 12 \xBD ounces and 22 inches long, his mother was reportedly ecstatic when he could finally carry her for a change.

Bradley was active in sports since he could walk. The first time he tried the swim team he was quite upset and it took a few more years for him to be able to stay for practice. He captured swim records while swimming for the South Middleton Swim Club and for the Cumberland Valley High School swim team, including district and state teams and Junior Olympic conquests. Bradley loved competing in the Pass, Punt and Kick competitions as a finalist at CV. He also enjoyed hitting home runs in the backyard with his dad. The baseball-littered farm fields behind his former home can attest to that.

He was an Arrow of Light recipient in the Boy Scouts and loved hiking with his family, friends and his dogs. Bradley loved indoor sports - football, wrestling and towel whipping, to name a few, and by indoor, I mean in the living room! He attended school in the Cumberland Valley School District before his family moved to South Middleton at the beginning of his senior year. He graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 2007.

His competitive fire could be a blessing as well as a curse. From video games to wack-a-mole, miniature golf or can-openers off the roof into a pool (not recommended), he enjoyed competition. This made for interesting and very entertaining company! Bradley was as giving as he was loving and loved to laugh and make those around him laugh too.

If there is a record for the most names of friends and family on a cell phone, he might have that one! Bradley is going to be sorely missed by many! We all love you very much!

Bradley is survived by his mother, Lisa (Griffith) Brandt of Grove City, OH, his father and step-mother, Drew and Meredith DeWalt of Boiling Springs, two sisters, Mikaela and Erika, his brother, Brayden, grandparents, Birchard and Louise Griffith and Donald and Jacqueline DeWalt and many extended family members.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., followed by a short service in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA.

In lieu of donations the family asks that you spend time with someone special in your life. Please break your routine and go to dinner and a movie or for a walk and tell someone how special they are to you.
