Obituary

Billy Ray Turner, 81, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at home with family by his side. He was born on Saturday, February 28, 1931, in Little Rock, Arkansas, a son of the late Dorsey W. and Blanche E. (Ross) Turner.

After moving to Carlisle in 1947, Billy Ray graduated in 1950 from Carlisle High School and was class President. He had worked for 25 years at the former C. H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle before founding Turner Hydraulics, Inc. in Carlisle. Billy Ray served in the PA National Guard for nine years. He and his wife attended Family of God United Methodist Church in Palmetto, FL. He was a member of St. John's F & AM Lodge 260, Carlisle, Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rite, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Shriners International,the Carlisle Elks Lodge, Carlisle American Legion, AACA Gettysburg Region and the Square Up Campers. Billy Ray enjoyed traveling and camping.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, R. Jane (Kough) Turner, two daughters; Beckey Shover and husband, Alan of Carlisle and Conny O'Handly and husband, Tom of Wrightsville, two sons; Billy Turner and wife, Laurie of Carlisle and Danny Turner and wife, Janet of Shippensburg, two sisters; Dianne Barrick and husband, Paul of Carlisle and Carolyn Wiseman and husband, James of Gravette, AR, one brother, Donald Turner and wife, Marilyn of Brunswick, ME, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Masonic and funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Troy Howell officiating.Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Rd., Lemoyne, PA 17043 or to Central PA Downs Syndrome Awareness Group, 175 Briarwood Lane, Carlisle, PA 17015.
