Betty Mae Thompson Ortiz, 85, of Carlisle, passed to eternal life on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle. She was born on April 19, 1930 in Carlisle, a daughter of the late William T. and Anna (Thomas) Thompson.

Betty was a loving homemaker and had also worked for several former businesses in Carlisle. She was a member of the West Street A.M.E. Zion Church, Carlisle and was a member of the Haines-Stackfield American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 826.

She is survived by six sons; Stephen Thompson and Dominic (wife, Bennie) Ortiz, both of Carlisle, Venino Ortiz and Stacy Ortiz, both of Harrisburg, Mitchell (wife, Jejchelle) Ortiz of Waco, TX and Mark Anthony Ortiz of Trenton, NJ, four daughters; Consuelo Crowder, Letitia (husband, Timmie) Bullock and Sharon William, all of Carlisle and Maria (husband, Alonzo) Evans of Harrisburg, one sister, Mary Crawford of Harrisburg, two sisters-in-law; Lois Thompson of Carlisle and Doyle Thompson of Panorama City, CA, a daughter-in-law, Deborah Thompson of Harrisburg, 23 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by two sons; Gerald Thompson and Antonio Ortiz, and three brothers; Russell "Booter" Thompson, Douglas Thompson and William R. Thompson, Sr.

A viewing will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Rev. Linda Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Carlisle.
