Betty L. (Chronister) Thomas, 81, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born on Sunday, January 5, 1930, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Clarence and Dolly (Martin) Chronister. She was the widow of Robert E. Thomas.

Betty was a former employee of the Carlisle Shoe Factory, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle.

She is survived by two sons; Robert L. Thomas (and his wife, Kathy) of Mechanicsburg, and Charles E. Thomas (and his wife, Diane) of Mechanicsburg, three daughters; Karen L. Thomas of Enola, Kathy J. Gartner (and her husband, Stanley) of Dillsburg, Janice M. DeTraglia (and her husband, Howard) of Mechanicsburg, her sister, Janice Sale and her brother, Wayne Chronister, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle, with Pastor Joshua Masland officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
