Betty A. Sweeney, 87, of Mt. Holly Springs, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 27, 2017 at her home. She was born on February 2, 1930 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Romaine (Donnelly) Slusser, and was the widow of Ray L. Sweeney, who passed away on February 18. 1991

Betty was a loving homemaker and had worked at the former Carlisle Ribbon Mill and the former Sylvania Shoe Factory in Mt. Holly Springs for many years. She also worked part-time for Knouse Foods in Peach Glenn. Betty was a member of the Reflections of Christ Community Church in Mt. Holly Springs.

She is survived by three sons; Clyde R. Feister and Mark A. Sweeney, both of Mt. Holly Springs and Benjamin M. Sweeney of Gardners, four daughters; Linda Chastain of Plainfield, Sheila Mathna of Newville, Rose Unger of Carlisle and Charlene Rinehart of New Bloomfield, three sisters; Janet Porter of Mt. Holly Springs, Nancy Gsell and Rebecca Mitchell, both of Carlisle and many grandchildren up to and including, great-great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Joseph Sweeney, one daughter, Debra Ann Group, three brothers; Lloyd and Paul Slusser and Marlin Hamilton and two sisters; Shirley Ann Showers and Rovene Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Glenn Yohn officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
