Betty R. Mell, 80, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Thornwald Home, Carlisle. She was born on September 27, 1934, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Ruth P. (Lowans) Renfrew and was the widow of Clair J. "Jim" Mell, who died May 4, 2005.

Betty graduated from Carlisle High School. She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers, creating crafts and country music.

She is survived by one daughter, Cathy J. Kime of Carlisle, two sons; Larry L. (wife, Mary) of Jefferson Twp. and Brian J. (wife, Joyce) Mell of Stevens, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle. The Rev. Dr. Donna C. Hale will officiate. Burial will follow in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N.
