Betty Jane was a 1939 graduate of Carlisle High School. She was a loving homemaker and also retired from the Carlisle Hospital after 20 years of service, where she was a heart station technician. Betty Jane was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and Cumberland County Historical Society. She formerly volunteered at the Carlisle Hospital and she loved her family, her home and traveling.
She is survived by two sons; John F. Ludt, IV (wife, Georganne) of Staunton, VA and William G. Ludt (wife, Jeanne) of Amherst, NH, one daughter, Mary Jane Ludt of Newport, three grandchildren; Jessica Wilmer, Margaret Ludt and Thomas Ludt, one great-grandson, Tyler Wilmer and several nieces and nephews. Betty Jane was preceded in death by two brothers; John Galbraith (her twin) and Glenn Natcher and four sisters; Jeanette Goodyear, Paulnaris Boston, Regina Shenk and Evelyn Sminkey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther St., Carlisle, with Rev. Carol Bowman officiating. A private burial will be in Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service and immediately following the service at Betty Jane's home for a time of fellowship. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
