Betty Jane Waggoner Lightner, 91, of Carlisle, died on April 20, 2019 at UPMC-Carlisle.  Born May 27, 1927 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the Rev. Walter E. Waggoner and Ruth (King) Waggoner Adams.  She was preceded in death by sister Leona Waggoner Kerns.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Kenneth E. Lightner, daughter Linda married to Walter Leffler, son Kenneth Jr. married to Ilene Pollack, daughter Lauren Shutt, and by 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother, a graduate of Carlisle High School, and for many years, a beloved Sunday School teacher at the Wesleyan Church of the Cross.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on April 25, 2019 followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, 430 B St, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Daniel Mikesell officiating.  Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to her church.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle.
