Betty M. Foster, 87, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2011 at home. She was born on Sunday, December 23, 1923 in Mt. Holly Springs and was a daughter of the late Curtis F. and Edna (Calaman) Keiter. She was the widow of George S. Foster, who died August 29, 2000.

Betty retired after working 12 years as a clerk in the Recorder of Deeds Office for the Cumberland County Courthouse, Carlisle. She was a member of the Carlisle Church of Christ, the Farm Women Group # 9, the Golden Age Club in Plainfield and was a former member of the Old Bellaire Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.

Betty is survived by her two daughters; Dianne F. (and her husband, W. Elliott) Schoonover of Yorktown, VA and Debra A. (and her husband, James R.) Smith of Newville, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by her son, David Samuel Foster, four brothers; Donald, Charles, Paul and Richard Keiter and her sister, Mary Goodhart.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Carlisle Church of Christ, 971 Walnut Bottom Rd., Carlisle. Tony D. Tarole will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery, Newville, at the convenience of the family.
