Bernadine C. (Moslak) Johnson, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at The Residence at Carlisle. She was born on February 21, 1937, in Winburne and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Hudak) Moslak. She was the widow of SFC (Ret) Eugene “Gene” Johnson, US Army who passed away on October 16, 2021.
She is survived by three children, Gary L. (wife, Sally) Johnson of Westerville, OH, Larry E. (wife, Kim) Johnson of Carlisle and Michelle Sims of Sacramento, CA, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by twin brothers, Joseph and Jerome Moslak and three sisters, Jean Rongeux, Josephine Gentry and Marcella Buckman.
Bernadine graduated from Cooper Township High School. She was a devoted homemaker and retired from St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle where she was a secretary to Rev. Andrew Fontanella. Bernadine was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, in the St. Patrick Catholic Shrine Church, 152 East Pomfret St, Carlisle, PA 17013, with Rev. Don Bender as the officiant. A viewing will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle and where a Prayer Service will take place at 7:45 p.m. The burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Those wishing to attend the burial service on Monday will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. or at the cemetery at 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.
