Barton S. Carpenter, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born at home on the farm in Perry County on November 27, 1935, to the late Sellers and Mary (Ellinger) Carpenter. He is the widower of his late wife Patricia (Weigle) Carpenter, who passed away on April 14, 2012.

Barton worked for many years at the PPG glass plant in Mt. Holly Springs. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in nature.

He is survived by his son John Carpenter, one brother William Carpenter, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Harry Ellinger, Jim Carpenter, and Frank Carpenter.

Services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St. Carlisle. The viewing will start at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Deb Dailey officiating. The burial will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
