Barbara E. Stum, 66, of Newville, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was born on Sunday, January 9, 1944, in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Sylvia (Steigleman) Weigle and the widow of Ronald R. Stum, Sr., who died Nov. 17, 2006.
She was a 1963 graduate of Big Spring High School and had worked for Wal-Mart in Mechanicsburg and Carlisle for over 10 years. Barbara had also worked for Saylor's Food Market in Newville. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making crafts, painting ceramics and helping out at the Upper Frankford Twp. Fire Co. She formerly attended St. Mary's United Methodist Church in Bloserville. Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, William Weigle and a grandson, Andrew Beachley.
She is survived by four daughters; Kimberly S. Weaver and her husband, Rob of Carlisle, Stacy L. Trayler and her husband, Robert of Newville, Christa L. Beidel and her husband, Kevin of Newville and April L. Beachley and her husband, Tim of Newville, two sons; Ronald R. Stum, Jr. and his girlfriend, Teresa of Newville and William K. Stum and his fiance, Terry also of Newville, two sisters; Donna Noss and Margaret Lay, both of Carlisle, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Wayne Good officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Assoc. of PA, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
