Obituary
Barbara A. Simmons, 62, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011, at her home. She was born on Tuesday, January 11, 1949, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late James N. Tanner and Winifred M. (Sadler) Tanner.
Barbara was 1966 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and a graduate of the Empire Beauty School. She owned and operated her own beauty salon in Carlisle and also worked as a driver for many years with Miller's Bus Service, Carlisle.
She is survived by son, Todd Simmons of Ramona, CA, daughter, Kristin (and her husband, Paul) Newman of Carlisle, a brother, James N., Jr. (and his wife, Janice) Tanner of Carlisle, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by brother, Steven A. Tanner.
Private graveside services will be held at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.

I would like to send my condolences to the family. I just saw her obituary and remembered her from when I was a kid going to the Boiling Springs pool. My Mom (Nancy) went to school with her and they were friends. We lost her three years ago. I guess they are at the big pool in the sky.David Livelsberger
