Obituary

Barbara L. Gossert, 91, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Hershey Medical Center.  She was born on September 14, 1933, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Fred Johnson Hurley and Violet Margaret (Martin) Hurley.  Barbara was the widow of William E. Gossert, III, who passed away on August 26, 1998.

She was a 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1954 graduate of the Albert Einstein Medical Center & School of Nursing in Philadelphia.  Barbara served as Registered Nurse at the old Carlisle Hospital from 1968 to her retirement in 1992.  She was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter Sheree L. (husband Mike) Fraker of Carlisle, one son Fred W. (wife Debbie) Gossert of Raleigh, NC, one sister Susan Copenhaver of Alabama, four grandchildren, Amanda Fraker, Chuck Fraker, Jay (wife Alice) Gossert and Amy (Andrew) Randall and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one sister JoAnn Keller.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Jacob Waybright officiating.  The burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 S.
