IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara M.
Gibbons
March 26, 1937 – September 12, 2025
Barbara Marie (Dunn) Gibbons, age 88, of Carlisle, PA passed away peacefully on September 12th at UPMC Carlisle Hospital.
Born on March 26, 1937, Barbara - affectionately known to her loved ones as Bobbi - was the daughter of the late Stanley W. Dunn and Susan Dunn (Hangarter). She graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 1955, and pursued a lifelong career in nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse from Orange Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1958. Barbara was a dedicated nurse until her retirement from Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, New Jersey in 1999.
Barbara was a devoted wife and grandmother who loved to cook, spend time with family and friends, and travel with her husband James (Jim). Some of their favorite trips included three separate tours of Ireland, Italy, Northern California, and annual trips to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. In her younger years, Bobbi and Jim spent many summers on their family boat exploring the Atlantic coastline, enjoying the Jersey Shore, and even water skiing.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughter Christa (Dave) Rowe and son Jimmy Gibbons; brother Stanley Dunn, nephew and niece Brian (Tanya) Dunn and Leigh Dunn McClure, grandchildren Aubrey (Ben) Weimer, Derek (Margrit) Gibbons, Kyle Gibbons, Callan (Adam) Wenner, Gia Gibbons, Brooke Gibbons, and Madison Gibbons; and four beautiful great-grandchildren Cooper, Delaney, Isla, and Brecker. She is now reunited in heaven with her dear husband James, who preceded her in death.
A remembrance of life will be held on October 5th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle PA.
In remembrance of Barbara, the family requests that you consider a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the United Church of Christ Homes as a grateful gesture to the Thornwald Home staff who provided her with wonderful care in her last years of life.
