Sgt. (Ret) Ardath E. Colbert, Jr., USAF, 75, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Thursday, July 16, 1936, in Carlisle, a son of the late Ardath E., Sr. and Elnora (Schmohl) Colbert.

Sgt. Colbert served in the US Air Force for 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and earned numerous awards and honors for his service to our country. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post 674, Carlisle Family Moose Center, Carlisle V.F.W. Post 477 and an associate member of the Newville American Legion Post 421. He attended Mt. Holly Springs Church of God.

He is survived by a sister, Judith M. Shughart of Carlisle, one son, Ardath, III, one daughter, Laura Ann and several other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, in the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, 602 McLand Rd., Mt. Holly Springs, with Pastor Richard Reese officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church.
