Obituary

Mrs. Annette Alphonso affectionately known as "Annette" was born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, W.I. on July 1, 1957, and was a daughter of the late Mr. Doyle Jacob Cyrus and Mrs. Joyce Samuel Cyrus.

She was peacefully summoned home on Sunday, March 19, 2023, after a brief illness and short hospitalization at UPMC Carlisle, PA.  Mrs. Annette migrated to the United States where she lived and attended Wingate High School in Brooklyn, NY and took several certificate computer courses.

Mrs. Annette hobbies include painting, drawing, sewing, and designing her own clothes.

After residing in Brooklyn, NY for decades, Annette relocated to Carlisle in 2022 and where she resided until her passing.

Mrs. Annette worked as a Home Health Aide and Care Giver for the elderly and special needs children, both verbal and nonverbal.  She also worked as a Security Guard for the U. S. Open.  She also loved visiting her friends for lunch.

Annette was a very jovial, happy and laugh heartly person when she met family and friends.  Her signature laugh was so infectious it would resonate throughout the room and infect everyone in the room.

She was a member of Temple of Restoration of Brooklyn, New York, where she regularly attended services before migrating to Carlisle.

She leaves to mourn her loving daughters, Sabrina Alphonso and Ksama Gumbs, sons, Michael "Mikey" Anderson, Ajamu "Prince" Cyrus and Nathanial "Natty" Anderson, her grandchildren, Ajamu Cyrus, Jr., Nya Cyrus, Ajani Cyrus, Amahle Anderson, Gabriella Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Nathanial Anderson, Jr., Noah Phillips-Cyrus and Shaquan Phillips, brothers, Henry, Tony, Kenneth and Glenn, sisters, Mrs. Michelle Cyrus and Mrs. Debbie Washington and countless nieces, nephews and extended family, Goddaughters and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Ms. Glenda Cyrus and Mrs. Sharon Patrick Gilbert and uncles, Mr. Ristid, Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Phillip Samuel and Aunt Mrs. Vero.

A visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.Since1853.com.
