Obituary

Anne P. Lias was born in Elessona, Greece to the late Demetrios and Arete Panagiotopoulos.  She passed away on January 13, 2024, in Carlisle Pennsylvania.

After graduating high school in Greece, Anne came over in 1951 on a student visa to attend college.  She lived with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kotsilimbas Davis, in Worcester, Massachusetts. She graduated with an associate in arts degree from Worcester Junior College in 1954 and a bachelor's degree in economics from Clark University in 1956.  While in the United States she met the love of her life, Nicholas Lias, and did not return to Greece.  They married on September 30,1956 at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Worcester, Massachusetts.  They lived in Worcester, Massachusetts, Lowell, Massachusetts and Carlisle, Pennsylvania with their two daughters.  She was devastated when her husband of 32 years passed away in 1988 from cancer.

Anne was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed entertaining, traveling, playing golf, tennis and bridge with friends. She volunteered and was a member of the Friends of Bosler Library, Carlisle Hospital Auxiliary, and the YWCA.  She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill and Philoptochos society.

She is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Steve) Janssen of Appleton, Wisconsin and Deb Lias (Robert) Henry of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, Nicholas (Abigayle) Janssen and Lucas (Abigail) Janssen, Appleton, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by husband Nicholas, brother George and sister Katina (Athens, Greece)

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Chapel Pointe for their continued care.
