Obituary

Anne Marie Donovan, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 84. Just days later, her beloved husband, Colonel Robert T. Donovan, joined her in eternal rest on November 9, 2024, after 63 years of marriage.

Born on June 10, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, Anne Marie's life was marked by service and compassion. She was a registered professional nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in New York, New York and earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ladycliff College and a Master of Education from Temple University. A lifelong advocate for military families, she served in numerous leadership roles, including Family Support Group Leader for regional community support during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and as a training consultant for the U.S. Army War College's Military Family Program, Facilitating Leadership and Group Skills (FLAGS) program, academic years 1980-1985; 1992-2007. Anne Marie also played a key role in the Carlisle Barrack's Suicide Prevention Task Force and was the first recipient of the Department of the Army's Commanders Award for Public Service as well as a recipient of the Department of the Army's Commendation for Civilian Patriotic Service.

Her faith was central to her life, and she was instrumental in developing and running the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program at St. Patrick's Church in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where she was known as the welcoming face of the parish. In addition to her many accomplishments, Anne Marie founded Donovan Training and Development in 1986, a successful business in the training and development consultant industry.

Anne Marie was predeceased by her son, Thomas Donovan, and grandsons, Jonathan Thomas (JT) Kuhn and Nicholas Donovan. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Donovan) Kuhn (husband Toby), William Donovan (wife Lisa), and Bob Donovan; grandchildren Jacqueline Kuhn (husband Patrick Dellinger), Jessica Kuhn, and Trevor Donovan; and great-grandchildren August, Charlotte, and Gracyne Dellinger.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, The burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Patrick's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.

Anne Marie's legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
