Obituary

Andrew Thomas Bower, 86, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Friday, March 21, 1924, in Brookline, MA, a son of the late Andrew T. Bower and Ruth (Gross) Bower.

Andy spent many years in the Needham, Mass. area and graduated from Needham High School. He attended Northeastern University and Rutgers University. Andy had worked in the communications field most of his life and worked 23 years with R.C.A. Corporation and several years with Repco. His job skills ranged from plant manager to sales. Andy was an amateur radio operator and a Fellow of the Radio Club of America in New York City. He was formerly affiliated with many organizations including, dispatcher for the Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Co. in Cherry Tree, PA, American Radio Relay League, Quarter Century Wireless Assoc., Mass. Assoc. of Chiefs of Police, the Connecticut Assoc. of Chiefs of Police and was a director with the Dividing Ridge Amateur Radio Club. Andy was also the former tax collector in Cherry Tree.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Madlyn "Lyn" L. (Fells) Bower, daughters; Kimberly Vensel (and husband, Rick) of Carlisle, JoEllen Bower of North Andover, Mass. and Dr. Amy Bower-Fisichella (and husband, David) of Falmouth, Mass, one son, Thomas Bower (and wife, Jan) of Chicago, IL, five grandchildren; Andrew, Abigail and Rebekah Vensel, Sara Fisichella and Priscilla Bower.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Furry Friends Network, P.O.
