Obituary

Albert D. Thompson, 87, of Carlisle, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 5, 2014, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Carlisle, a son of the late Robert and Hattie (Moore) Thompson and was the widow of Evelyn E. (Davis) Thompson, who died Sept. 2, 1977.

Albert was a US Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Dickinson College after 38 years of service, where he was a crew leader in the maintenance department. Albert was a member and sang in the choir at Bethel A. M. E. Church, Carlisle. He was a member of the Pitt Street-North Street Pride Association for 15 years.

He is survived by two sons; Arthur "Artie" D. Thompson of Port Royal and Jeff S. (wife, Stacy) Thompson of Gettysburg, one daughter, Pamela D. Brumbach of Carlisle, one brother, Milton Thompson of Carlisle, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by one daughter, Stella Battle, five brothers; Clinton, John, Robert, James and Charles Thompson and four sisters; Ida McShayne-Thompson, Ruth Kee, Emma Thompson and Jean Sims.

A viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August, 12, 2014, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Marilyn Hubbard officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to his church at, 131 E. Pomfret Str., Carlisle.
