Obituary

Alan Lynn Jumper, 48, of South Middleton Township died at his home on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.

Born September 23, 1962, Alan was the youngest son of Lester and Doris Jumper. In July, 1988 Alan married Sandra Baker. They had three sons of whom Alan was very proud: Robert Alan; Benjamin Lynn; and Steven Eugene.

Alan always had a positive attitude and outlook on life which he shared with his wife, sons, and friends. Even in the darkest days of his illness, Alan saw his glass as "half-full." He also had a passion for the outdoors and particularly loved to fish and hunt.

Alan is also survived by a son, Derek Bretzman, and two half-brothers, Rodger and Frank Jumper of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Eugene Jumper.

Alan was a member of First Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Good Samaritan Lodge No. 336 in Gettysburg, and Camp 18 in Arendtsville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at First Lutheran Church, 21 South Bedford Street, Carlisle with the Rev. Charles A. Brophy officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Church. Visitation will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 South Hanover Street on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
